Why CEC?
There is also a shorter two minute version of the above Welcome video which you can find here and we recommend that all new starters watch it with their parents before starting at CEC.
Welcome from Mx Russell
Welcome to Year 7! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Mx (“mux”) Oliver Russell and I am going to be the head of year 7 when your child joins us here at CEC in September 2024. I will also be your main point of contact over the coming months along with Mrs Caitlin Short (Admissions Officer). For some families, you may already have a child here at CEC so may know about the campus. However, for others, this is a new and exciting chapter in your child’s life. Whatever your prior experience of CEC is, I am excited to welcome you to our #Crantastic community.

The Big Step Summer School
The Big Step Summer School will run on the Campus site from Mon 12th - Fri 16th August 2024. This is a very worthwhile programme with the sole aim of preparing pupils for Secondary school. The Big Step is run by an external provider and the approximate cost for a whole week of activities is £120 per child. You can secure your child’s place with just a £20 deposit and pay the rest at your convenience (or opt for an automatic payment plan). If your child is entitled to benefit related free school meals you can receive a 50% discount. If you think you’re eligible for this discount, please contact [email protected] before booking.

Travelling to Campus
Many of our Secondary pupils walk, cycle or scoot to school, but we understand that this can be quite daunting at first for new Year 7s (and their parents!) Luckily if you live near St Martins Primary School, this video made by Sustrans may be really helpful in planning their cycle route from St Martins to CEC.
