Les Bayliss

Chair of Governors

I served as an airport fireman at Exeter Airport for 31 years, progressing through the service to become the Fire Service Manager and Business Risk Manager. As well as managing a large team of firefighters, I had responsibility for Health & Safety, attaining an IOSH accredited certificate in Executive Risk Management. I have served a 4 year term as a councillor at Honiton and more recently I am a councillor at Cranbrook. I look forward to using the skills that I have acquired over my career to support and assist the campus.

Sarah O'Shea

Co-Opted Governor / Vice Chair

I was born and brought up in Exeter before following a career in primary teaching in London and then returning to teach in Exeter.

Later in my teaching career I joined the staff at Exeter College, teaching across a wide range of courses and age ranges. I am an Early Years specialist and taught early years education at all levels. I led a team of colleagues developing the Foundation degree in Early childhood Education. During the last 15 years of working in the College, I worked at leadership level as the Student Services manager for the College. In this varied role I managed the College nursery provision alongside all things “student” including, leading on Child Protection and Safeguarding. I was the college Designated Safeguarding Lead. In this role I was also the FE lead in Devon and sat on the Local Safeguarding Board.

I have two grown-up children who, after travelling afar, have both returned to live and work in Devon which means I am very lucky to see my grandchildren and children regularly.

I have been associated with Cranbrook Education campus in various Governance roles from the very first day the school opened its doors to begin its journey in the Cranbrook community.

Sarah is the Vice Chair and Link Safeguarding Governor

Eder Da Silva

Co-Opted Governor

As a co-opted school governor, I'm here to mix a bit of professional experience with a genuine passion for education. I currently work as a Senior Manager in Financial Crime, with over a decade of experience in the field of data governance and management, skills that come in handy for school governance too. My core motivation is understanding and positively influencing kids' behaviour.

My journey in financial crime has taught me the importance of rules, order, and integrity. These values extend naturally into my role as a school governor, where I believe that creating a safe, supportive, and disciplined environment is fundamental to nurturing young minds.

Being the "data person" in my professional life, I bring a keen eye for detail and a strategic approach to school governance. Managing data and governance isn't just about numbers; it's about making well-informed decisions, and I'm all in to ensure the school thrives.

In my spare time, as a licensed skydiver, I embrace the thrill and freedom that skydiving brings. This thrilling hobby has taught me the importance of calculated risks, responsibility, and the joy of pursuing passions fearlessly.

More than anything, it's about the kids. I'm deeply interested in children's behaviour and development. It's not just about policies and rules; it's about understanding how we can create an environment that allows each child to flourish, learn, and grow.

So, let's work together to make our school a place where students are not only safe but also inspired to reach their full potential. I'm committed to empowering our students and ensuring our school community thrives together, providing an excellent platform for their educational journey.

Secondary Staff Governor

Role currently vacant

Liz Partridge

Primary Staff Governor

I have been involved in education since I started my teaching career in 2001. I took a career break in 2016 to spend more time with my young and growing family, although still stayed in touch with the sector with supply teaching and exam board work. I have had a connection with Cranbrook Education Campus since 2016 when my eldest child started in Reception. I have since then supported the school by volunteering as a parent helper and joining the PTA where I took on the role of Treasurer. I had the pleasure of becoming a parent governor in 2018 but sadly had to step down from this role when I joined the campus as a member of staff in 2020. I have thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to see the campus grow and develop over the years and have had the unique chance to be able to see the various aspects of the Campus, both as a parent and an employee. I am excited to have the opportunity to be part of the Governing body again in the role of Staff Governor.

Gavin Watts

Co-opted Governor

Having worked for the past 15 years as a finance professional with a focus on operational and strategic matters, I feel honoured to have the opportunity to represent parental views to the school. I have long been an advocate for the importance of education, recognising the role that schools play in helping children attain positive outcomes. I currently have two children at the school, in addition to my nieces, and I have witnessed the school’s growth and development from its opening. I aim to challenge the school to aspire to exceed the expectations of students, parents and staff alike, so that CEC can strive to become an education leader rather than a follower, empowering our young people to achieve success, happiness and fulfilment in their lives.

Simon Beacham

Secondary Parent Governor

My family and I have lived in Cranbrook since 2012, allowing us to see how the town has grown and developed over this time.  My eldest completed his GCSEs at CEC a couple of years ago, my daughter joined the secondary phase this year and my youngest is in the primary phase so I am incredibly invested in the success of the school and have plenty of experience as a CEC parent that I hope to bring to the table as an effective parent governor.  I have always been impressed by the aspirational ethos at the CEC and I hope to be able to make a positive contribution to ensuring every child at the school achieves their full potential.

In my professional life I am an experienced senior leader, with a particular passion for professional skills and development, so it will be of great interest to me to see how this works in the school setting and hopefully I can offer some valuable input while learning something new along the way..

Emma Wrublewski

Co-opted Governor

With over 25 years of experience in both private and public sector education, I have worked extensively in further education (FE) and adult learning. In my current role as Head of Advice, Admissions, and Learning Centres at Exeter College, I am dedicated to continuously enhancing our systems and services to provide an improved experience for both students and our community. My passion lies in enriching our students' curriculum by offering a diverse range of learning services.

As a resident of East Devon, I have watched Cranbrook’s community and school flourish over the years. I am enthusiastic about collaborating with the school and the community to support student success, ensuring every learner has access to the tools and opportunities they need to achieve their potential.

Jason Nofal

Trust Link Governor

I have been a teacher since 2013 and am currently a Senior Leader and Head of Maths at another Exeter school. I was previously a staff governor there for 4 years and am really excited about the prospect of being able to offer my expertise to Cranbrook Education Campus and its community.

I have a real passion for ensuring that students are successful, however that might look, during their time at school and supporting them to use the skills they learn to live the lives they choose.

Out of school, I am a very active person and enjoy the great outdoors.
