The Outdoor Education Programme
The Outdoor Education Programme at CEC offers all our pupils the opportunity to challenge themself physically whilst also learning new skills such as navigation, teamwork and leadership. We aim to provide the following opportunities to our pupils:
Year 7 – The Exe Valley Challenge, a TWT-run in the Summer Term each year
Year 8 – The Jurassic Coast Challenge, a TWT-run event in the Summer Term each year
Year 9 – The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, which launches in the September of Year 9, runs throughout the year and culminates in the Expedition Section in the Summer Term.
Year 10/11 – The Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. We are happy to launch this to any pupils who hold the Bronze DofE Award so that they can begin completing their Volunteering, Physical and Skill Sections at CEC. However, in recent years there hasn’t been the interest to run a Silver Expedition so a number of our pupils have gone on to complete the Silver Award at their Further Education Provider once they leave CEC.
